Minton Majolica mallard game pie dish & cover
Victorian, circa 1869. 6.7ins high, 11.8ins wide, 7.7ins depth.
Minton Majolica game pie dish with liner which features a hare, mallard and blackbird on a bed of fern and oak leaves.
Colouration: green, brown, turquoise, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '668'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1869.

Condition
Cover: Good. Small flake to tip of the moor hen's wing.
RESTORATION: Filled and retouched chip to oak leaf and acorn cup.
Liner: Generally good. No restoration.
Some wear to interior and exterior.
KILN EFFECTS: stained crazing;
a piece of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the outer rim;
shrinkage cracks to both the handles and rim.
Dish: Good. Kiln effects: running to brown glaze;
a few specks of stray glaze to interior;
a few pieces of kiln detritus to interior and exterior;
slight thinning to turquoise glaze to the interior.
Restoration: stabilized hairline to interior.
