Victorian, circa 1890. 10.4ins high, 10.4ins wide, 4.3ins depth. Jose Francisco de Sousa Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a crab, mussels and clams.
Green ground version. Colouration: green, red, grey, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Jose Francisco de Sousa pottery.

Condition
CONDITION: Good. Some small flakes to green shredded clay and edge of one shell.
KILN EFFECTS: specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to some of the shell fish and to the reverse.
RESTORATION: Retouching to some of the shredded clay.
Filled chip to the crab's front left leg.
Both the crab's back left legs have been remodelled.
