Victorian, circa 1870. 7.3ins high, 5.1ins wide, 5.1ins depth. Majolica tobacco jar and cover which features a castle with four turrets.
Colouration: brown, green, ochre, are predominant.
Book reference not found.
Condition
Jar: Generally good. No restoration.
Wear to the high points of the molding.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the green glaze.
Cover: Generally good. Some small flakes to rim.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the brown glaze.
RESTORATION: Retouched flakes to rim and to crenellations of largest turret.
Filled chip to inner rim.
Remodelled missing two crenellations on one turret,
one crenellation on a second turret and one crenellation and a section to a third turret.
