Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 3.1ins high, 4.5ins wide, 2.2ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire inkwells which feature a spaniel, recumbent on a rectangular base. Russet and white version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Right facing: Generally good. Some small flakes to shredded clay.
Rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: firing pits to the base and spaniel;
kiln soot caught in the glaze to the reverse;
touch mark to tail.
RESTORATION: Retouching to russet markings.
Left facing: Generally good. Some rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: small firing pits to the base and spaniel;
over glazed shrinkage lines to the tops of the legs and to back of spaniel.
RESTORATION: Stabilised and retouched hairline to the front of the base.
