Staffordshire hen on nest tureen
Victorian, circa 1860. 7.5ins high, 8.7ins wide, 6.7ins depth. Staffordshire egg tureen with cover which features a hen, resting on a basket weave oval base. Multi-coloured version.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Hen: Good. KILN EFFECTS: a few flecks of stray coloured glaze;

some craze lines.

RESTORATION: Filled chip to inner rim.

Retouching to paint losses to eyes, wattle, comb
and markings.




Nest: Good. KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing;

stilt marks to upper rim;



a few specks of stray coloured glaze to the interior.

RESTORATION: Stabilised and retouched crack to rim.

Filled chip to rim.
