Pair Staffordshire cow & milkmaid/man figures
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.5ins high, 6.7ins wide, 3ins depth.
Pair of Staffordshire figures with a pastoral theme which feature a milkmaid and milkman each in front of a cow, stood on a shaped base. Multi-coloured with underglaze blue version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.

Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the reverse.

Condition
Female: Good. No restoration.
A few paint losses her bodice, trim on dress and cow's markings.



Slight wear to hat,

cow's neck, ears and legs.





Some rubbing to gilt.


KILN EFFECTS: glaze pops to her hair;


flecks of stray coloured glaze to her chest.

Male: Generally good.
Hairline around right hind hoof.

Slight wear to cow's tail.

Some rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to cow's left hind leg;

fleck of stray coloured glaze to the cow's face.

RESTORATION: boy's head reglued and join retouched.


Retouching to skirt, neck tie and bucket.



Filled chips to his hat.
