Victorian, circa 1860. 6.1ins high, 7.3ins wide, 5.7ins depth. Staffordshire egg tureen and cover which features a hen on a basket, seated on a basketweave oval base. Jackfield black version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze pops to the hen's comb and wattles.
RESTORATION. Filled chip to tail.
Stabilised and retouched crack to tail, still slightly visible.
