Staffordshire Disraeli whippet with hare

Victorian, circa 1860. 10.8ins high, 9.4ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Staffordshire figure which features a Disraeli whippet with a dead hare (The curls represent Disraeli's, elected Prime Minister 1868 and Queen Victoria’s favourite), stood on an oval base. Black and white version. Dull gilt base line. Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.







Vent holes to reverse and underside.

Condition

Generally good. Paint losses to the ground and left eyebrow.





KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing;



over glazed shrinkage line to reverse of right hind leg;



shrinkage line along the mold join to whippet's back and chest.





RESTORATION: remodelled right ear;



retouching to ground and reverse.
