Pair Staffordshire russet & white St Bernards

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 5.1ins high, 7.3ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature St. Bernard dogs, stood directly on the ground, no base. Russet and white version.







Decorated mainly to the front.



Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

Right facing: Good.

KILN EFFECTS: firing hole just above dog's left eye;



kiln soot caught in the glaze to the reverse;



slightly stained craze lines to the underside of the dog.



RESTORATION: Retouching to tongue.



Left facing: Generally good.

KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray russet glaze to the front



and reverse;



kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the reverse;



some stained craze lines to the front



and the reverse.



RESTORATION: Left front leg reglued and join retouched.





Retouching to the dog's tongue.
