Staffordshire rabbit tureen & cover
Victorian, circa 1870. 5.3ins high, 9.1ins wide, 4.1ins depth. Staffordshire tureen with cover which features a rabbit, seated on an oval base.



We think they have possibly been matched up together at some stage because the lid does not sit perfectly on the base.
Black and white version. Dull gilt base line. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition
Cover: Good. No restoration. Some small flakes to inner rim.

KILN EFFECTS: over glazed chip to the inner rim;

over glazed shrinkage line to the rabbit's back.

Base: Generally good. Star crack to the underside.

A few paint losses to ground.



KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks to the underside;


piece of kiln detritus to the ground.

RESTORATION. Retouching to black markings and ground.
