Staffordshire lady with harp and dog candle holder

Victorian, circa 1860. 9.8ins high, 4.7ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Staffordshire candle holder which features a lady playing the harp with a begging dog beside her, seated on a rectangular base. Multi-coloured with underglaze blue version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.







Decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.

Condition

Generally good. Slight rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the pillar;



notable crazing; a few specks of kiln soot caught in the glaze to the pillar.



RESTORATION. Retouching to her hat, hair, nose and shoes,









dog's markings,



and ground.



Remodelled candle holder - possibly not original function.
