Staffordshire elephant spill vase

Victorian, circa 1860. 8.5ins high, 4.7ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Staffordshire spill vase which features an elephant wearing a saddlecloth, stood on an oval base. Multi-coloured version.







Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Condition

Fair.

Small paint loss to left ear.



Slight wear to trunk



and some to underside.



KILN EFFECTS: staining to some of the craze lines;
notable crazing.



RESTORATION: Stabilised and retouched cracks to spill vase,



some running down the reverse,





across elephant's back, rump



and side.



Filled chip to underside.



Retouching to ground



and spill.
