Pair Staffordshire cow & calf spill vases
Victorian, circa 1880. Tallest is 10.8ins high, 8.3ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire spill vases with a pastoral theme which feature a cow with her calf
beside a stream infront of spill, stood on an oval base.

Russet and white version. Bright gilt base line and embellishment.
Flatback, decorated only to the front.

Condition
Right facing: Good.
Some paint losses to the ground


and cow.



Some wear to reverse.


KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the upper base;

shrinkage cracks under the cow


and to spill at reverse.

RESTORATION. Retouching to the ground


and spill.

Spill reglued and join retouched.


Filled chip to front of spill.

Left facing: Good.
Tight hairline to cow's front right leg.


Small flake to stream wall.

Some paint losses to the ground,

cow

and spill.

Slight wear to reverse.


KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the underside;

small firing pits to reverse.

RESTORATION. Retouching to the ground.


Filled chip to left horn.
