Pair Staffordshire children on St Bernards

Victorian, circa 1880. 9.3ins high, 8.7ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Staffordshire figure with a childhood theme which features a boy and girl each
on the back of a St Bernard with Disraeli curls on its head, stood on an oval base. Black and white version.
Bright gilt base line and embellishment.



Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.







Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

Male: Good.

Small flake to dog's nose.



A few paint losses to socks,



front right paw



and tongue.



Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing;







shrinkage line along the mold join to boy's right leg and running up his side.



RESTORATION. Retouching to hat



and ground.



Filled chip and stabalized cracks to base.



Filled chip to nose.



Female: Generally good.

Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the girl;



notable crazing.





RESTORATION. Dog's nose reglued and join retouched.





Filled chip to girls foot.



Retouching to ground.



Stabilized and retouched crack to tail.
