Staffordshire Pearlware bull bocage figure

pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 6.3ins high, 5.7ins wide, 3.5ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware bocage figure with a pastoral theme which features a bull in front of a tree,
stood on a shaped base. Multi-coloured version.





Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition

Generally good.

Small flake to reverse.



A few paint losses to the ground









and bocage.







KILN EFFECTS: a few shrinkage cracks to the bull's body, neck,





underside and rear;







piece of kiln detritus caught inside causing piece to rattle;

a small glaze miss to the bull's head.



RESTORATION: Tail partly remodelled.



Remodelled right ear and horn.





Filled and retouched chip to left horn and ear.





Retouching to brown markings.





Old remodelled section to bocage.





Old restoration to another leaf tip on bocage.
