Pair Staffordshire cow & milkman/milkmaid figures

Victorian, circa 1860. 5.3ins (13.5 cm) high, 3.9ins (10 cm) wide, 1.6ins (4 cm) depth.






Staffordshire figure with a pastoral theme which features a milkman/milkmaid with a cow
in front of a tree, stood on on an oblong base.


 



Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line. Vent hole to the reverse.

Some paint losses to ground.



Kiln effects: kiln grit caught in the glaze to reverse


flecks of stray coloured glaze to his chin,

tree,

cow

and reverse;



glaze run to the cobalt glaze.


Milkman's torso reglued and join retouched.

Filled chip to cow's right ear



Female: Generally good.

Kiln effects: craze line to milkmaid at reverse.
