Staffordshire clock group with Daniel in Lion's den

Victorian, circa 1860. 9.6ins (24.5 cm) high, 7.1ins (18 cm) wide, 2.4ins (6

cm) depth.

 




Staffordshire clock group with a religious theme which features Daniel with

two lions over a clock face,

stood on on an oval base.





Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Flatback,

decorated only to the front. Vent hole to reverse and underside.


This piece represents Daniel in the lions den. Daniel 16-16, 'then the king
commanded and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. Now
the king spoke and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually
he will deliver thee.'.

 


Makers marks painted to the underside.
