Staffordshire Jackfield hen on nest tureen

Victorian, circa 1860. 7.1ins (18 cm) high, 9.1ins (23 cm) wide, 6.3ins (16 cm) depth.


Staffordshire egg tureen and cover which features a hen, seated on on a basketweave oval
base.



Jackfield black version. Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated in the round with decoration

to the front and the reverse. Vent hole to the underside.






Makers marks to the underside.

Slight wear to exterior.


Kiln effects: tiny glaze pops to the orange comb

and wattle.



Filled chip and re-touching to rim.

Two filled chips to tail edge.

Two tiny chips to inner rim.


Some rubbing to gilt.


Some wear to rim.

Slight wear to interior and exterior.


Kiln effects: small shrinkage crack to rim

and one to interior.
