Staffordshire girl on spaniel's back figure

Victorian, circa 1860. 8.3ins high, 6.9ins wide, 3.5ins depth.. Staffordshire group with a Royalty theme which features a spaniel with a young girl lying on it's back, stood on an oval base. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.



Flatback, decorated only to the front. Russet and white version.



Vent hole to the underside.



This piece probably represents a Princess with her pet. Makers marks painted to the underside. Similar piece illustrated in Schiffer's,
'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding, page 146, figure 2244.

Condition

Good. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. No flakes.

Abrasions to the dogs nose.



Some rubbing to gilt.



Kiln effects: firing crack to the mold join of one leg;



firing crack to the join between the back foot and the base.



Repair to her left arm.
