George III, dated 1807. 14.5ins by 12ins wide. 1807 Sampler by Mary Ann Cooper. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in a silk-like thread on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.


No border, divider lines in various patterns.

Colours black, cream, greens, pink, browns and blues. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-18.
Verse reads
'Go on, dear youth With deep learning's path pursue
And keep her golden treasures still in view
Search with attention for the fhining ore
Its latent qualities with care explore
Learn all their different properties and ofe
And gain the depth of fubjects moft ab?ruse
Fair fciences is the clue by which we find
The intricate labrinth of the human mind
Peruse great nature's book, and her wife laws,
And in its page trace the creative caufe
This will expand and animate thy hopes, When I oftems fail, or high exalted tropes
With caution fix, and choofe the better part> Ever maintain integrity of heart
Let fympathetic feelings urge thee frong? To acts of kindenefs, never in the wrong
