George III, dated 1793. 19.5ins by 14.5ins wide. 1793 Silkwork Map Sampler by MY Kersley. Framed in an old wood frame with glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Meandering floral border.

Colours gold, blue, green, pale green, dark brown, white, pink, pale blue and black. Depicts a map of England and Wales with the counties, and surrounding seas.

Signed and dated 'MY KERSLEY 1793'.

CONDITION: Good. A number of small holes.

A few pale patchy stains to the extreme edges.

Very minor stitch loss to the place names and to some holed areas.

A few loose threads to the border.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run. Stretching is very slightly uneven.

Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
