1782 Map sampler by Margaret Watt
George III, dated 1782. 21.5ins by 18.25ins wide. 1782 Map sampler by Margaret Watt.

Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.


No border. Colours black, cream, light brown, pink, greens and blue.
Depicts a map of England and Wales with the counties, and surrounding seas.
Signed and dated 'Done by Margaret Watt 1782'.

CONDITION: Good. No holes other than a few old tack holes to the extreme right edge of the sampler.

A few light patchy stains.




Some stitch losses to the signature and county names.




Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
