George IV, dated 1829. 14.75ins by 11ins wide. 1829 Silkwork Sampler by Elizabeth Martha Jordan.

Framed in an old wood frame with glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Meandering floral border.

Colours greens, navy blue, copper, gold and cream. Verse reads 'My God I bow before thy feet When shall my soul get near thy seat When shall I see thy glorious face. With mingled majesty and grace'.

Signed 'Elizabeth Martha Jordan Cheltenham, 1829.'

Cheltenham is a town in Gloucestershire in England. A scattering of motifs, including a large central potted flowering plant,

stars, diamonds,

dogs, birds,

baskets, butterflies and fruit baskets.

CONDITION: Generally Good. A number of holes, and thinning of the ground in a few places.

A number of stain specks.

Some stitch losses to the verse and motifs.

Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
