Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.


Simple line border.

Colours black, light brown, gold, green and pink.
Depicts a detailed map of Europe with surrounding seas, oceans and channels. The map includes major town and city names within each country.The lines of longitude and latitude are also marked.

Signed 'Charlotte Walker'.

CONDITION: Generally Good.
A number of small holes, and loss of ground mainly to the bottom left of the sampler.









Patchy staining.


Stitch losses to the border,




title and some of the place names.




A black pen has been used to cover some of the stitch loss.


Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.
Stretching is slightly uneven.


Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
