Majolica bird & shell seafood server

Victorian, circa 1870. 5.1ins high, 9.8ins wide, 13ins depth. Majolica seafood server which features three shell shaped serving wells, decorated with seaweed and shells.



A bird perched between the two smaller wells.





Colouration: cobalt blue, pink, green, are predominant.





Book reference not found.

Condition

Good. Very slight wear to interior.





KILN EFFECTS: a couple of pieces of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the interior;





slight crazing;



glaze run to the cobalt glaze;





a few tiny glaze pops to the interior.







RESTORATION: remodelled beak to bird.





Retouched flake to tip of bird's tail.



Filled chip to rim of one of the cobalt wells.
