Large Wedgwood Majolica game pie dish, liner & cover
Victorian, circa 1878. 6.9ins high, 12.6ins wide, 9.3ins depth. Wedgwood Majolica game pie dish which features a crouching rabbit handle, trailing grape vine and hanging game around the sides.
Brown ground version.
Colouration: brown, green, pink, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Wedgwood pottery. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1878.

Dish: Good. No restoration.
Flaking to the rim,


foot rim and relief decoration to exterior.





Slight wear to interior,

exterior and underside.




KILN EFFECTS: staining to the flange and interior;



glaze miss to interior,

foot rim and one bunch of grapes to exterior;


glaze run to the brown glazes;


notable crazing.


Liner: Good. Tiny flake to rim.

Very slight wear to underside.

KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing.

RESTORATION: stabilised and retouched crack to one end.

Cover: Good. No restoration.
Small chip to steam hole to underside only.

Small flake to rim.

Slight wear to underrim,

exterior and rabbit's back.
