Large Minton Majolica gun dog game pie dish

Victorian, circa 1869. 8.3ins high, 13.8ins wide, 8.3ins depth. Minton Majolica game pie dish which features a hunting dog asleep next to a rifle, a powder flask and a game bag. Colouration: cream, green, brown, are predominant.













Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1869.

Cover: Good. No restoration. Tight hairline to rim.





Slight wear to exterior.





KILN EFFECTS: thin glaze application to the underside.



Liner: Good. Slight wear to interior.



KILN EFFECTS: staining to the exterior.





RESTORATION: Filled and retouched chip to rim.





Dish: Slight wear to exterior.







KILN EFFECTS: a few pieces of kiln detritus to the interior;



a few glaze misses to ochre rim;





overglazed shrinkage lines to handles.





RESTORATION: two filled and retouched chips to rim just above one handle.
