Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features various species of fish, shell fish and an eel. Colouration: green, ochre, brown, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery. Book reference not found.
Condition
Good. Small flake to inner rim of one mussel.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze accumulation to the foot rim;
fleck of stray brown glaze to one fish's body.
RESTORATION. Remodeled section to one of the fish's back fin.
Filled chip to tail fin of one fish.
Small piece of side 'wavy' fins of two fish reglued and join retouched.
