
Early 20thC, circa 1920. 7.7ins high, 6.9ins wide, 4.3ins depth. Sarreguemines Majolica jug/pitcher which features a character jug depicting the head of a man wearing a stars-and-stripes hat.
This jug represents 'Uncle Sam,' a national personification of the USA. Colouration: pink, grey, blue, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Sarreguemines pottery. Bears a pattern number, '4316 530'.
CONDITION: Good. KILN EFFECTS: over glazed chip to the brim of the hat.
RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched hairline to the rim.
