
George IV, dated 1820. 17.1ins high, 13.3ins wide, 1ins deep. Regency Period Sampler, 1820, by Caroline Sawyer.

The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering floral border.
Colours green, blue, pink, silver and light brown.
Verse reads, 'Blessed are they and only they, Who in the Lord their Saviour die, Their bodies wait redemption's day, And sleep in peace where'eer they lay'.
Signed and dated, 'Caroline Sawyer's Work in her ninth Year 1820'.
A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden full of hens and a peacock.
A pair of decorative columns, embellished with flowers winding up them.
Birds,
a butterfly, flowers, potted flowering plants,
a lion and a dog.
Framed in a modern wood frame with clear acrylic, in place of glass.
Mounting: The sampler is glued around the extreme edges only to card, could easily be removed.
Frame backed with chipboard and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Good. A few small holes.
No stains. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.
A number of background threads showing through to the front of the sampler.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
