
Circa 1890. 9.3ins high, 9.3ins wide, 3ins depth. Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, a small crocodile-like lizard, lizards and a toad.
Colouration: green, brown, grey, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery. Bears a pattern number, '6'.
CONDITION: Very Good. No restoration. A few inconspicuous frits to the green shredded clay grass.
A few shallow chips to the foot rim, probably from manufacture.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to one lizard's back leg.
