
Circa 1890. 11.2ins high, 11.2ins wide, 3.2ins depth. Jose A Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a large, puffed-up frog (or toad) in the centre. Surrounded by a snake, a frog, moths, a lizard and a worm.
Colouration: green, grey, blue, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Jose A Cunha pottery.
CONDITION: Generally Good. Small, shallow, coloured in chip to the rim.
A few inconspicuous frits to the grassy ground.
RESTORATION. Lizard head and front-left leg remodelled.
Filled chip to small frog's nose.
Stabilised and retouched cracks to three of large frog legs.
Filled chip to large frog's eye.
