
Victorian, circa 1874. 15.9ins high, 15ins wide, 11.8ins depth. Minton Majolica jardinière with a mythological theme which features two mermen (sometimes attributed to the Sea God Neptune or to Triton), supporting shells.
Cobalt blue ground version, with turquoise interior.
Colouration: cobalt blue, green, cream, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1362'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1874.
CONDITION: Good. Small flake to one tail.
Light staining to one arm.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze pops to the blue and brown bands below the rim.
RESTORATION. A few filled chips to the rim.
Filled chip to head-dress.
