Rare Pair Minton Majolica Rams Head Jardinieres & Stands

Victorian, circa 1853. Tallest is 15.4ins high, 18.5ins wide, 17.3ins depth. Pair of Minton Majolica jardinière and stands which feature ram's head handles and fruit swags. Rare, Magenta ground version.

Colouration: magenta, green, pink, are predominant.

Minton date cipher for the year 1853, impressed to the underside of one jardiniere.

Condition

CONDITION: Planter 1: Good. RESTORATION. Filled chip to rim.

Filled chip to ram ear.

Filled chips to garland.

Undertray 1: A few scratches to the magenta ground, showing white body underneath.

Planter 2: Generally Good. Kiln effects: patchy, thin, bubbled glaze to areas on the rim.

RESTORATION. Filled chips to rim and under rim.

Filled chip to ram horn.

Retouched flaking: ram's heads;

magenta ground; garlands.

Undertray 2: Stabilised and retouched crack around circumference of the interior of the tray. Stabilised and retouched crack to rim.
