The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.
Meandering strawberry border.
Colours green, blue, yellow, copper, pink. Signed and dated, 'Elizabeth Baily. Oct 20th 1807'.
A few motifs including a central house,
with potted flowering plants and flowers either side.
Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass.
Mounting: The sampler is loose mounted onto card. Frame backed with paper and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Good. One tiny hole in right hand border.
No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.
Minor stitch losses to date.
Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading.
No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched.
Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
