The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Features finely worked bands of various patterns.
Colours red, blue, silver, pink, green and brown. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-9.
Signed and dated 'MARTHA WARBURTON 1732'.
Framed in an old wood frame with glass.
Mounting: The sampler is stitched to material, then pulled over over wooden board. Frame backed with brown paper and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Good. No holes. Slight patchy staining to the ground.
Minor stitch losses to numbers and other areas.
Colours are all good and strong. No colour run.
Stretching is very slightly uneven with gaps showing around the outer edge.
Frame showing some wear and chips, but otherwise sound.
