George III, dated 1818. 6.7ins high, 5.5ins wide, 0.9ins deep. Regency Sampler, stitched in 1818, by Sarah Wakley.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Inscription reads, 'Remember now thy Creator in the days oF thy youth When the evil days come'.
Signed and dated 'Sarah Wakley 1818'.
A scattering of motifs, including a church,
a dog, birds, potted flowering plants, crowns, a stag and a lion.
Framed in an old, burr maple frame with glass.
Mounting: The sampler is fixed to linen. Frame backed with brown paper and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Generally Good. A few holes.
No stains. Stitch losses to letters of the alphabets and numbers.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.
There is a fold-crease running down the right hand side.
Frame has some wear and chips, but is presentable and in our opinion ready to hang.
