Antique Miniature Sampler, c.1835, by Sarah Martyn

Circa 1835. 3.4ins high, 3.4ins wide, 1ins deep. Antique Miniature Sampler, by Sarah Martyn. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Simple line border. Black thread throughout. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-15.

Signed 'Sarah Martyn'. Framed in an old, 19thC, gilt over wood frame with glass.

Mounting: The sampler is loose mounted onto linen. Frame backed with card and sealed with tape.

 

CONDITION: Good. A few holes, which have been carefully backed to conceal.

No stains. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven. Frame showing some wear, but is structurally sound and in our opinion could be hung 'as is'.
