The sampler is finely worked in silks on linen ground, with sixteen complex, decorative darning panels in a variety of stitches.
Colours red, gold, blue and white. Signed 'Marg't MacAlister MO.IS.X''.
Framed in an old, possibly original frame with rippled, dimpled, old glass.
Mounting: The sampler is stiched to a canvas border fixed to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with card and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Good. No holes. One small dark stain.
Uniform age darkening of the ground. No obvious stitch losses. Colours slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven. Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
