
Early 19thC, circa 1830. 8ins high, 6.3ins wide, 1.2ins deep. Sampler, Harriet Sargent aged 10.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout. Simple line border. Colours red, gold, pink, blue and green. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-12.
A scattering of motifs, including birds, a crown, a heart, potted flowering plants and a flowering tree.
Signed 'Harriet Sargent aged 10. St Marys School West Brompton'. West Brompton is a region of South-West London in England.
Framed in an old, possibly original, wood frame with rippled, old glass.
Mounting: The sampler is fixed to a wooden board. Frame backed with wood and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Good. A couple of small holes.
No stains. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
