Staffordshire Pottery Figure of a Woodchopper Lumberjack

Victorian, circa 1860. 13ins high, 5.6ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery figure with a pastoral theme. Features a woodchopper (lumberjack) carrying an axe, a flask (of whiskey perhaps) and other tools. His trusty dog sits by his side. Bound logs are at his feet.

Stood on an oval base.

Dull gilt base line and embellishment.

Flatback, decorated only to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.

Condition

CONDITION: Very good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Some rubbing to gilt. Slight abrasion to dogs nose. KILN EFFECTS: craze line to the reverse, near the bottom.
