Minton Majolica Teapot And Sugar Pot

Victorian, circa 1876. 4.7ins high, 6.7ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Minton Majolica teapot, and sugar pot which features branch, leaf and blossom bases and a flower finial.

Turquoise ground version.

Colouration: turquoise, dark pink, white, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1005'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1876.

This design possibly has a connection with Chistopher Dresser. The only link I can find is a catalogue entry by Christies NY from 16 April 2015, lot 208, where they describe this teaset as 'possibly designed by Christopher Dresser'.

Condition

CONDITION: Teapot: Generally Good.

Slight wear to interior and exterior of teapot.

RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched hairline to rim.

Retouched flake to spout.

The lid was in pieces, but all original pottery present. Has been reglued and joins retouched.

Sugar: Good. No restoration.

Bruise to lid flange.

Slight wear to interior and exterior of both.

KILN EFFECTS: tiny glaze pops to exterior of pot and rim of lid;

glaze miss just below finial.
