Miniature House Sampler by A Bennett

Georgian, circa 1800. 3.9ins high, 4.1ins wide, 0.5ins deep Miniature House Sampler by A Bennett. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Colours pink, light brown, green and cream.

Inscription reads, 'May you be happy'. Signed 'A. Bennett'.

A scattering of motifs, including a house,

potted flowering plants, angels and fir trees.

Framed in an old, possibly original, Hogarth frame with rippled, old glass.

Mounting: The sampler is stitched over card. Frame backed with wood and brown paper.

CONDITION: Good. A few tiny holes. No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
