Antique Map of UK Sampler by Elizabeth Kifft, 1797

George III, dated 1797. 19.3ins high, 16.9ins wide, 2ins deep 1797 England & Wales Map Sampler by Elizabeth Kifft, Leacock School.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border.

Titled, 'Map of England & Wales. Signed and dated 'Elizabeth Kifft Leacock School 97''.

Depicts a map of England and Wales, complete with some surrounding seas, countries and a compass.

Backed with blue material, giving the sea a wonderful blue tinge.

Framed in an old, gilt over wood, frame with Tru Vue Conservation glass.

Mounted to conservation standards onto board with a dark brown paper backing.

CONDITION: Very Good. A few small holes.

One light stain to the right of Lincolnshire.

No stitch losses. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
