The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.
Meandering strawberry border.
Colours browns, yellow, greens and cream. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and family initials
Verse reads,
'And now my Soul another year
Of thy short life is past
It cannot long continue here
This year maybe my last'.

A wonderful set of motifs, including Adam & Eve standing either side of the tree of life with a snake coiled around its trunk,
birds,
flowers,
fruit baskets,
potted flowering plants
and stags.
Framed in an old, possibly original, black, ebonised wood frame with glass. Mounting: The sampler is stitched over acid free card.
Frame backed with chipboard.
CONDITION: Good.
A few small holes/pulls to the lower base edge.
No stains, only old tack marks to the outer edges where the sampler was previously tacked to a stretcher frame.
No stitch losses.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
No colour run.
Neatly and evenly stretched.
Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
