Staffordshire Cow Butter Dish and Cover

Victorian, circa 1870. 4.3ins high, 5.7ins wide, 4.3ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery butter dish with a pastoral theme which features a cow on the lid, resting on an oval milk churn-like dish base.

Black and white version.

Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Date registration diamond mark for November 1868, on underside of the lid.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Cover: Good.

A few paint losses to ground.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to tips of both horns.

Retouched paint losses to black.

Dish: Good. A few paint losses to the exterior.

KILN EFFECTS: minor kiln soot caught in the glaze to the interior.

RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to black.
