Holdcroft Majolica Dog in Barrel Tobacco Jar and Cover

Victorian, circa 1880. 7.5ins high, 4.7ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica tobacco jar and cover which features a dog in a barrel.

Turquoise ground version.

Colouration: turquoise, brown, white, are predominant.

Bears a pattern number, '12'.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Cover: Good. No restoration.

Shallow chip to flange.

Some small flakes to inner rim, right ear and to barrel edge.

Jar: Good. No restoration.

Stain/mark at the bottom of the interior.

Wear to the rim.

KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the exterior;

kiln grit caught in the glaze to the exterior.
