Holdcroft Majolica Wedge Shaped Cheese Keep And Stand

Victorian, circa 1870. 9.4ins high, 11ins wide, 7.9ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica cheese keep which features an unusual wedge-shaped form, a branch handle and blossom to the sides.

Turquoise ground version. Colouration: turquoise, brown, ochre, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Cover: Good.

Small flake to handle.

Wear to the high points of the molding.

KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze.

RESTORATION. Filled chips to base corner and side edges.

Stand: Good. No restoration.

Some flakes to ground.

KILN EFFECTS: stilt marks to the ground.
