George Jones Majolica Neptune & Maidens Oval Jardiniere

Victorian, circa 1860. 8.7ins high, 22.8ins wide, 12.2ins depth. George Jones Majolica jardinière with original metal liner.

Mythological theme which features Neptune blowing a conch shell, surrounded by maidens, putti and dolphins.

Colouration: cobalt blue, turquoise, green, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the George Jones pottery. Bears a pattern number, '2984 B'.

Condition

CONDITION: Jardiniere: Generally good.

Slight wear to interior.

KILN EFFECTS: a speck of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the side.

RESTORATION. Retouched flakes to cobalt ground, which is now coated with restorer's clear lacquer.

Liner: Fair. No restoration.
