Majolica Jardinere And Stand With Oriental Scenes

Victorian, circa 1880. 54.7ins high, 16.3ins wide, 16.3ins depth. Majolica jardinière and stand which features pictorial panels:

 

Two depicting oriental scenes with figures. The other two with a stork in flight over water.

 

 

 

Colouration: ochre, green, white, are predominant.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Jardiniere: Good. Small chip to two of the feet.

KILN EFFECTS: glaze miss to interior and rim.

RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack to rim.

Filled chip to rim.

Retouched flakes to feet and exterior.

Stand: Good. Some wear to the top.

KILN EFFECTS: glaze misses to the ochre rim;

glaze pops to the cobalt glaze.

RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack to on corner of top.

Retouched chips and flakes to rim and top.

Stabilised and retouched crack to central column.

Base: Good. Minor flaking to some edges.

Slight wear to corners and top.

Bruise to top.

Kiln effects: glaze misses to the ochre.

RESTORATION: retouching to flakes.

Filled chip to under rim.
